Phew! It has been so long since we updated the blog. And we really have no excuse. January has come and gone and we are thankful the winter seems to be going quickly. We have already begun daydreaming about the summer – the long days, the outdoor adventures, and the patio happy hours with friends. We can’t get too ahead of ourselves – we have a lot more winter left!!
We thought we would simply write an update on what has been going on with the VanOss’ lately. First, and perhaps the biggest life change, Tim is back in school! We totally feel the Lord’s guidance as He has shifted Tim’s career path from mechanical engineer to prosthetics and orthotics. He is currently taking prerequisites in hopes of applying to programs in the coming fall as well as volunteering at a local clinic to get a better understanding of the field. We are both excited by the practical, hands-on opportunities that this career path will lead to. The Lord has confirmed this direction as we have seen continual need in the news with Haitians in need as well as young people returning from war.
This month we have also been doing a little traveling. Ashley got to fly to the south for a weekend college reunion in Greenville, SC. It was so wonderful to walk around the Furman campus after 6 years and see the changes and re-live some of the college “magic” with good girlfriends. We also spent a weekend in Wanatchee, WA. It is a city on the “other” side of the Cascade mountain range where the climate is dry! Our friends Bill and Gale have a condo on the Columbia River so we stayed with them and went snowboarding at Mission Ridge.
We are happy to be spending a somewhat quiet weekend in Seattle: lunch with family, movies with friends, a little bit of laundry, a little bit of reading. Here is how we are spending some more of our time:
Listening to – The Avett Brother and some other folk sounds, new! Patty Griffin – “Downtown Church” album, Lady Antebellum (duh)
Reading – Biology textbook (Tim), Breaking Dawn (aka – 4th Twilight, Ashley), Psychology textbook (Tim), Becoming a Woman of Simplicity (Ashley), Mountaineering (Tim), old Southern Livings (Ashley)
