Yes, flowers and sparkling wine is the extent of this blog post; a salute to springtime. These beautiful irises were a birthday gift from my friend Leah and they needed to be shown off (the color is absolutely unreal, yes?). The tulips have popped here in Chicago and the stinky but beautiful white pear trees are in bloom.
And with the sun and the added warmth comes an important transition in any year’s cycle — the transition from heavy reds to sweet and sparkling wines! Say what you will, I can drink prosecco and moscato with the best of um’. On that note, I have to recommend a recent find from Trader Joe’s that will cost you a whooping $4.99 and will totally make an outdoor meal:
“for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” S of S 2.11-12
